Grab your house scarves and keep the tissues handy, Potterheads—the reunion we’ve been waiting a decade for is finally happening.
HBO Max has officially confirmed that the “Big Three”—Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint—are heading back to where the magic started. The stars will reunite for Harry Potter th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts, a massive retrospective special set to premiere on Jan. .
The news immediately sent the internet into a Pensieve of emotions. Within minutes of the announcement, “Harry Potter” began trending globally on X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok, as fans shared their favorite memories of the boy who lived.
This isn’t just a quick Zoom call, either. The special will feature brand-new interviews and deep-dive cast conversations, marking two decades since the world was first enchanted by Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
It’s been twenty years since we first saw Harry board the Hogwarts Express, and seeing the cast back together is the ultimate New Year’s gift for a generation that grew up waiting for their own owl-delivered letters.
But Daniel, Emma, and Rupert won’t be the only ones wandering the halls. The guest list for this reunion is truly legendary, bringing back the heroes and villains we love (and love to hate).
The reunion will feature appearances by Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange), the late Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid), Ralph Fiennes (Lord Voldemort), and Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy).
Even the faculty and the extended Weasley clan are joining the party. Expect to see Gary Oldman, Imelda Staunton, Tom Felton, James and Oliver Phelps, Mark Williams, and Bonnie Wright.
Rounding out the magical roster are Alfred Enoch, Matthew Lewis, Evanna Lynch, Ian Hart, and the man who directed the first two films, filmmaker Chris Columbus.
“It has been an incredible journey since the debut of the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone film,” said Tom Ascheim, President of Warner Bros. Global Kids, Young Adults, and Classics.
Ascheim noted that witnessing the evolution of the Wizarding World has been “magical, to say the least,” adding that the retrospective is a tribute to everyone touched by the cultural phenomenon.
“From the talented cast and crew who poured their heart and soul into this extraordinary film franchise to the passionate fans who continue to keep the Wizarding World spirit alive years later,” he shared.
The special was filmed at the iconic Warner Bros. Studio Tour London—The Making of Harry Potter, giving the stars a chance to step back onto the original sets.
Whether it’s the Great Hall or the Gryffindor common room, the nostalgia factor is expected to be off the charts. The project is produced by Warner Bros. Unscripted Television in association with Warner Horizon and executive produced by Casey Patterson and Pulse Films.
For fans, this moment represents more than just a TV special; it’s a homecoming. On Instagram, fans are already counting down the days, with one user writing, “My childhood is screaming! Seeing them all together again is the only way to start .”
So, clear your schedules for New Year’s Day. It’s time to go home to Hogwarts.
