Emma Watson Has the Most Magical Idea for a ‘Beauty and the Beast’ Sequel — and We’re Already Obsessed!

Hold onto your enchanted roses, Disney fans!

It has been only six weeks since the live-action Beauty and the Beast waltzed into theaters, but the film has already become a certified global phenomenon. With a staggering $. billion earned at the worldwide box office, everyone is asking the same question: What happens next?

While Disney’s production head, Sean Bailey, has previously suggested that a prequel or spinoff might be more likely than a direct sequel, the stars of the film aren’t ready to say goodbye to the provincial life just yet.

Emma Watson, who brought the iconic bookworm Belle to life, sat down with Access Hollywood to address the viral buzz surrounding a potential follow-up. Though she admitted she hadn’t been tracking the social media frenzy, she revealed she “would love” to step back into Belle’s yellow gown.

In fact, the -year-old actress already has the perfect script treatment ready to go.

“I always thought that Belle had become a teacher and she would run the library in the castle, and open it up to the village,” Watson shared during the interview. “That was where I was going.”

Fans on X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok are already losing it over the pitch. “Belle opening a public library for the village is the most ‘Emma Watson’ thing ever and I need it now,” one fan gushed.

The idea brings Belle’s journey full circle. Since her introduction to the Beast’s massive library was the emotional turning point of the first film, seeing her share that love of literature with the community feels like the perfect feminist evolution for the character.

But what about the Beast himself?

Dan Stevens, who delivered a powerhouse performance (and that show-stopping “Evermore” solo), is also raising his hand to return to the castle. The actor recently confirmed he is “open to offers” for a sequel.

Even though his character broke the curse and regained his human form at the end of the first film, Stevens joked that he would “kind of like to bring the Beast back” in some capacity.

The live-action reimagining, directed by Bill Condon, did more than just recreate the animated classic. By adding new characters and original songs from Alan Menken and Tim Rice, the film proved that there is plenty of room to build on the Beauty and the Beast mythos without losing the spirit of the original.

Of course, the “Mouse House” would need a rock-solid story to move forward, but with Watson and Stevens both on board—and a billion-dollar track record—a sequel seems less like a dream and more like a “Why not?”

For now, fans will have to keep their fingers crossed that Disney takes a page out of Watson’s book.

Would you like me to keep an eye out for any official Disney announcements regarding a spinoff or prequel?
