J.K. Rowling Celebrates Major Legal Victory on $M Yacht as Harry Potter Stars Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson Remain Silent

The magic is fading behind the scenes of the Wizarding World. J.K. Rowling is taking a victory lap following a landmark U.K. Supreme Court ruling, but her famous proteges are nowhere to be found.

The Harry Potter author, , took to X (formerly Twitter) to celebrate a court decision that ruled the term “women” in the Equality Act refers specifically to biological women. The ruling concludes a long-standing legal battle regarding whether gender recognition certificates should alter sex-based protections.

Rowling, who reportedly helped fund the campaign group behind the case, shared a defiant photo of herself puffing on a cigar aboard her $ million superyacht. “I love it when a plan comes together,” she told her . million followers.

While the author popped champagne, the internet noticed a glaring silence from the film franchise’s “Big Three”: Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint.

The trio, who skyrocketed to fame as Harry, Hermione, and Ron, have spent the last several years distancing themselves from Rowling’s stance on gender identity. In the past, all three have vocally supported the trans community, with Radcliffe famously stating, “Transgender women are women.”

Fans on social media are now divided over the stars’ lack of response to the latest legal development. While some users accused the actors of “disloyalty” to the woman who made them millionaires, others jumped to their defense.

“Are actors contractually obliged to support the personal political beliefs of authors?” one supporter questioned on X.

The tension between the creator and the stars isn’t new. Just last month, Rowling appeared to take a jab at the trio when asked which actors “instantly ruin a movie” for her. “Three guesses. Sorry, but that was irresistible,” she quipped.

The rift deepened last April following the release of the Cass Report, which criticized the evidence for gender-affirming care for minors. At the time, Rowling suggested she wouldn’t forgive Radcliffe or Watson for “cosying up” to movements she believes erode women’s rights.

“Celebs who… used their platforms to cheer on the transitioning of minors can save their apologies for traumatised detransitioners,” Rowling wrote at the time.

Radcliffe, , has previously expressed his sadness over the fractured relationship but stands firm in his beliefs. “Jo, obviously Harry Potter would not have happened without her… but that doesn’t mean that you owe the things you truly believe to someone else for your entire life,” he told The Atlantic.

He noted that his decision to speak out was fueled by a desire to support queer and trans youth who felt “tarnished” by Rowling’s comments.

As for the legal ruling itself, the Supreme Court stated that “sex is binary” and that the Equality Act’s protections for women apply to biological sex. This decision is expected to have major implications for single-sex spaces like domestic violence refuges and hospital wards across the U.K.

Representatives for Radcliffe, Watson, and Grint have not yet commented on the ruling or Rowling’s recent posts.
